Les Misérables

Timber Lake Playhouse

June 12 to 28, 2026

An intimate moment between two characters at the barricade in Les Misérables.

Romanticism Meets Grime.

Les Misérables has been my favorite piece of theatre since I was a kid. Getting to make it at Timber Lake Playhouse was a dream years in the making.

Our starting point was “romanticism meets grime.” Rough wood, worn fabric, crowded streets, and the machinery of a world that keeps moving surrounded people trying to hold on to one another. Color and light gave us room for the romantic scale of the score without losing the mess and specificity of their lives.

I kept coming back to the people inside the epic: a father and daughter, a kindness that changes a life, young people who believe the world can be better. The barricade only matters if we know who is standing on it.

The Les Misérables company fills the stage during Master of the House.
