Footloose
The John W. Engeman Theater
July - August 2025
How do you fight grief?
In our first production, Footloose began as an exploration of grief and the healing power of movement. That foundation has grown into a sharper, more expansive vision at the Engeman, where the production further interrogates how communities use rules and repression to contain pain, and how young people push back through joy, music, and dance. With its evolution, this staging transforms familiar iconography into a more layered portrait of resilience, showing how a story born from loss can blossom into an act of collective renewal.
